During his extended sit down with Oprah on Oprah Prime, Pharrell touched on topics ranging from his upbringing in Virginia Beach to his recent marriage and birth of his son. When the topic turned to his song “Happy”—arguably the biggest song in the world—Pharrell revealed that since the song didn’t have an EDM or Trap influence, he couldn’t get radio airplay. Throughout the 40 minute talk, Pharrell also spoke on synthesia, how The Alchemist changed his life, race relations and the controversy surrounding the G I R L album cover, the inspiration behind his best songs, and his top-five favorite songs of all time.—Peter Walsh
