The Notorious B.I.G.’s Childhood Block Has Officially Been Named After Him
B.I.G. gets a big honor.
The Notorious B.I.G. was posthumously honored by the city of Brooklyn, N.Y., with his own street on Monday (June 10). The corner of Fulton Street in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford–Stuyvesant is now officially renamed Christopher 'Notorious B.I.G.' Wallace Way.
Thousands braved the rain including Biggie Smalls’ mother, Voletta Wallace, and his oldest daughter, T'Yanna, and son, Christopher Wallace Jr, to remember the late rapper who repped BK to the fullest.
"I'm sure he'd use some of his saying: 'Yo, that's cool, Brooklyn. We did it!' Maybe this sign and the crowds here today will show they really loved him," Volletta told ABC7NY.
Biggie’s son Christopher, also known as CJ, told the news outlet that he could have went the same route as his dad and become a rapper. But instead, he chose entrepreneurship to honor his late father by starting his own company, Think Big. "I just want to be as passionate as he was and inspire other young black, brown men like me," he said.
B.I.G.’s former artist and friend Lil Kim was also at the street-renaming ceremony. The veteran rapper felt that this was part of Biggie’s dream as well.
"He always had a vision," she said. "And I feel like today was part of his vision."
