Lil Reese Shot, Is in Critical Condition: Report
Lil Reese is reportedly in critical condition after being shot in Chicago.
According to a report ABC Chicago published on Monday evening (Nov. 11), the Chicago rapper was shot in in the neck in a Chicago suburb this afternoon. Rumors that the rapper was shot first surfaced on Twitter, but it was only confirmed after ABC Chicago published their report this evening. He is said to now be in critical condition.
The shooting reportedly took place between the city's Pulaski Road and 167th Street. Police say they responded to calls to the scene, but upon their arrival, Reese, born Tavares Taylor, had already been taken to the hospital. They say there was blood on the ground and in the driver's seat of the car Reese was in when they arrived.
Chicago's WGN 9 reports that witnesses told police that Reese was chased by another man in a car with a gun. The witnesses say 12 shots were fired during the chase and the driver got out of his car and shot Reese with a small rifle.
From there, authorities reportedly searched nearby hospitals for a man that suffered a gunshot wound in his neck. They found him in South Suburban Hospital's emergency room before he was transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Before the news was confirmed, the Normal Backwrds rapper's fellow Chicagoan Lil Durk tweeted out a message indicating that Reese was doing fine, though he didn't provide any additional context. In the tweet, Durk wrote simply, "Reese good 💙."
While this report goes directly against Durk's tweet, it is possible that Reese's condition has deteriorated since Durk posted his message.
This is a developing story, and more information will be added as details become available.
