It appears President Trump's attempted power move at getting A$AP Rocky out of a Swedish jail has been stifled by Sweden's Prime Minister Stefan Löfven.

Following Trump's tweets about talking with Löfven about securing Rocky a bail by vouching for him on Saturday (July 20), Löfven has released his own statement via his spokesperson that appears to contradict what the Commander in Chief said.

“The Prime Minister made sure to point out that the Swedish judicial system, prosecutors and courts are completely independent,” said a statement from spokesman Toni Eriksson, reports New York Daily News. “He also pointed out that everyone is equal before the law and that the government neither can nor will try to influence the judicial process."

The statement closes, "It is possible that there will be follow-up calls but right now there is not one scheduled or planned."

This differs from what Trump stated on Twitter. He sounded very hopeful that he would be able to use his pull to spring the rapper, who has been locked up in Stockholm since July 2 on suspicion of assault charges in relation to a street fight.

"Just had a very good call with @SwedishPM Stefan Löfven who assured me that American citizen A$AP Rocky will be treated fairly," Trump posted. "Likewise, I assured him that A$AP was not a flight risk and offered to personally vouch for his bail, or an alternative......Our teams will be talking further, and we agreed to speak again in the next 48 hours!"

It looks like Rocky will have to let things play out. Most recently, a judge ordered he be kept behind bars while the investigation continues, after prosecutors claimed he was a flight risk.
