UPDATE: According to a TMZ report, published on Wednesday (July 3), A$AP Rocky voluntarily surrendered to police in Sweden on Tuesday night (July 2) for questioning and was subsequently arrested. As a general rule, according to the media outlet, the U.S. Embassy is usually called when an American is arrested, but this reportedly never happened for the Harlem rapper.

Insiders told TMZ that Sweden police are refusing to allow the U.S. Embassy rep to talk with Rocky or his entourage, which is a violation of his human rights. It appears now the Swedish Embassy in Washington, D.C. is getting involved in the matter.

The story is still developing...

Days after a video of A$AP Rocky's fight with a man in Sweden went viral, the rapper has reportedly been taken into custody.

According to a report The Hollywood Reporter published on Tuesday night (July 2), Rocky was arrested in Sweden on suspicion of assault. The Harlem MC was apprehended after he performed at the Smash Festival in Stockholm on Tuesday. According to Stockholm Police, there was a request made to place Rocky in cuffs after footage of him hurling a Swedish man to the ground made its rounds on the internet. Four people from Rocky's entourage are suspected of being involved in the assault.

"They had the intention to leave the country quite soon and if they leave the country there could be a risk that we would not be able to get them convicted if they had done this crime," prosecutor Fredrik Karlsson told The Independent.

On Sunday night (June 30), a video surfaced of the Harlem rapper and his crew engaged in a melee with a man in the streets of Stockholm. In the first part of the clip, we see Rocky talking to two men outside a restaurant. Then, one of the men accuses the rapper of breaking a pair of headphones and reportedly asks him about replacing them.

After the rapper warned the men not to follow him and his crew, another woman interrupted the conversation and claimed that one of the two men had grabbed her behind. That's when Rocky and his crew began fighting at least one of the men in question.

"SO A FEW DRUG ADDICTS ARE NOT MY FANS , WE DONT KNOW THESE GUYS AND WE DIDNT WANT TROUBLE," Rocky wrote in his Instagram caption for videos of his interactions with the two men before the fight. "THEY FOLLOWED US FOR 4 BLOCKS , AND THEY WERE SLAPPING GIRLS BUTTS WHO PASSED , GIVE ME A BREAK."
