TMZ has reported that Gage Garmo, a terminally ill fan who got the opportunity to meet Eminem this past Sunday (Jan. 11) passed away yesterday afternoon (Jan. 12). Garmo had been suffering from osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. In an attempt to raise the 17-year old's spirits, Eminem arranged a secret visit to Garmo's home, where the two hung out and chatted for an hour. A candle light vigil was held by friends and family members at Rochester High School, where Garmo was the football team's manager.

Through the power of social media, Garmo got his wish to see his idol. The young man’s friends and families used the hashtag #GetGageGarmoToMeetEminem to spread word and it caught Eminem's eye. Slim Shady was reportedly very adamant about keeping his visit low-key, making sure it didn't turn into a "media spectacle." Our prayers go out to the family and friends of Gage Garmo.
