Meek Mill Testifies In His Civil Suit Against Philly Cops
As planned, Meek Mill took the stand as a plaintiff in a Philadelphia court room yesterday in his lawsuit against the police.
The 26-year-old rapper moved forward with the lawsuit after a Halloween 2012 incident that ended in Meek's arrest and detainment on the eve of the release of his debut album, "Dreams & Nightmares."
In the lawsuit, filed in January 2013, Meek asserts that Officer Alvin Outlaw and former lawman Andre Boyer violated his civil rights the night of his album's release after pulling over his truck on the way to the airport for a flight to Atlanta performance. He claims the arrest forced him to miss a chartered jet that costed him $22,500. In addition, he had to miss out on a $39,000 appearance fee. He also claims that the negative press affected his deal with Puma. After being detained for close to 10 hours Meek and his party were released without charges.
On the stand Meek Mill shared his thoughts on the night of the arrest. Meek explained, "My life could be potentially over for something I didn't do. . . . I could lose all my endorsements. . . . I missed the show. . . . My state of mind was just a lot of fans were waiting to see me. They won't really pay for you again."
