Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Kanye West & Eminem Only Rappers on Top 40

With no new rap releases hitting shelves last week, hip-hop was barely represented on this week’s Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

In fact, only three CDs appeared in the Top 40—Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne, and the Eminem and Royce Da 5’ 9” joint EP, Hell: The Sequel.

CIV remained the highest selling rap release since debuting on the charts four weeks ago. According to the Nielsen SoundScan report, released today (September 28), fans picked up 84,100 additional copies last week. Although the album slipped two spots from No. 3 to No. 5, overall Weezy has an impressive total of 1,384,800.

Four spots down the charts is WTT. In its seventh week on the charts the all-star duo sold an 30,500 more discs, making the duo’s to-date tally stand at 902,300.

Em and Royce’s Bad Meets Evil EP continues its success in its 15th week on the charts. The Detroit lyricists sold 12,300 copies this go-round, moving them up a seat to to No. 34. So far the project has amassed 541,300.
