Twitter Goes in on Lauryn Hill for Showing Up Three Hours Late to Her Concert
Some believe that showing up is 80 percent of life, but for Lauryn Hill it remains 100 percent of the problem, as fans in Pittsburgh waited three-plus hours for the musician to take the stage Tuesday night (Jan. 31). The show at Heinz Hall was part of Hill's The MLH Caravan: A Diaspora Calling! concert series, which she added dates to in November.
Making the scene all the more peculiar, Hill's band was waiting along with the crowd, one concertgoer saying that everyone was visibly mad at what appeared to be a no-show. n May of last year, Hill explained why she is frequently late to her shows, saying via Facebook, "I don’t show up late to shows because I don’t care. And I have nothing but Love and respect for my fans. The challenge is aligning my energy with the time, taking something that isn’t easily classified or contained, and trying to make it available for others."
Twitter was expectedly less understanding this go around, playing off of the fact that Hill is frequently late to her own shows. Some questioned what fans were expecting, while others saw the move as a savvy ploy.
The MLH Caravan continues on this month, with remaining stops included below. Check above for a collection of Twitter reactions.
