Lauryn Hill Evades Paying Her Taxes Because of Threats
Lauryn Hill is dodging to pay taxes because of scary threats to her and her family members.
TMZ reports that Hill filed legal documents saying she had good reasons for not paying her tax returns for 2005, 2006 and 2007. During those years, she earned approximately $1.8 million. She has pleaded guilty to three counts of tax evasion and expected to serve time in jail.
The documents say Hill stopped paying taxes “when she withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family." There are no mentions of what those specific threats that mention her family.
Hill is asking the court other factors, including letting her stay out of jail in order to pay her debt faster. She is seeking probation, which a judge in the case is expected to rule on her sentence on April 22.
