LAPD Says Yo Gotti Not a Person of Interest in Young Dolph Shooting
After Young Dolph was shot in Hollywood yesterday (Sept. 26), TMZ reported fellow Memphis rapper Yo Gotti had been named a person of interest by LAPD in the case. But this morning, XXL reached out to the L.A. County Sheriff's Office, and Officer Mota confirmed Gotti is not currently a person of interest in the shooting.
TMZ initially reported law enforcement sources told them eyewitnesses had seen Dolph and Gotti's crews get into an altercation on the street, with Gotti allegedly being present during the incident. LAPD is now disputing that report.
After Dolph underwent emergency surgery yesterday, he's in "critical but stable" condition. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso, and managed to drag himself into the Shoe Palace before police arrived at the scene. “They had an argument, which escalated to a physical fight,” said LAPD Officer Meghan Aguilar. “At one point, Young Dolph was knocked to the ground. And then one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and began shooting at him.”
Police are looking for two suspects after detaining a third yesterday. Officer Mota says the person detained yesterday was let go by police without being arrested, while the other two people are still outstanding. Police were also searching for a gold Cadillac Escalade believed to be involved in the shooting, but the vehicle was later found abandoned nearby.
Dolph and Gotti have had a long history of beef. After Dolph's SUV was riddled with over 100 bullets in February, many believed Gotti had something to do with the shooting. Soon after, Gotti's artist Blac Youngsta turned himself into authorities in connection to the shooting.
