Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly is up for 11 awards at the 2016 Grammys and the latest commercial for the ceremony features K.Dot back in his hometown of Compton, CA. The clip features people in the streets of CPT reciting the lyrics to Lamar's "Alright" before the MC emerges from a car with microphone in hand to perform the track with his people, including a young boy who knows every word to the massive song.

The TPAB rapper has an interesting history with the Grammys and there was quite the controversy when he was nominated for seven different categories at the 2014 awards but lost out to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, who won four Grammys, including Best Rap Album. Macklemore famously texted Lamar and posted the message on his Instagram, saying that K.Dot "got robbed."

XXL spoke to Kendrick about the Grammys and whether he feels if hip-hop is undervalued by the voters and committee. “I definitely feel like they should always have more of the culture up in there, for sure, because we definitely stand out just like any other genre,” Kendrick said. “We part of the world. We part of the movement. So I think any awards, including the Grammys, should always push for more hip-hop because it’s music as a whole, it’s not just splitting different regions. Everything moves as far as sound and vibrations, and that’s how it goes. And we are a part of that.”

Lamar is nominated for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Music Video, Best Dance Recording (with Flying Lotus), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (with Taylor Swift) at this year's awards.
