Jay Z, Rihanna To Perform “Run This Town” For ‘Thursday Night Football’ Intro
That sound you're hearing right now is the sound of people all across America rejoicing. Why? FOOTBALL IS BACK.
That's right, tonight, the Green Bay Packers are visiting the defending champion Seattle Seahawks in the NFL's season opener. As if that wasn't good enough, CBS Sports and NFL Network announced that starting next week, the opening theme song to their 'Thursday Night Football' presentation for the duration of the 2014 NFL season will be performed by Jay-Z and Rihanna. They will be performing their Grammy award winning song “Run This Town” every week as a part of Thursday Night Football's intro. As Jay and Rihanna perform the song, award winning actor Don Cheadle will narrate a customized preview of that night's game.
CBS Sports Creative Director Pete Radovich, who produced the theme, says that the star studded intro "combines one of music's biggest stars with one of the most dynamic actors in Hollywood," and that "the energy both talents provide gives the opening to every Thursday night the big-game, primetime feel it deserves. It is a dram scenario for any director."
