Jennifer Lopez kicked off her residency in Las Vegas last week and brought out Ja Rule to perform their 2001 smash hit "I'm Real (Remix)." With a stage setup that featured an New York City subway to pay homage to her Bronx, NY roots, and her debut album On The 6, Lopez, who was draped in a b-girl outfit, invited the rapper onstage to perform their chart-topper. Throughout the night, Lopez surprised fans with guest spots from Pitbull and Ne-Yo. The extravagant show also featured 10 costume changes, hover boards, elaborate choreography and plenty of celebrities in the crowd.

J. Lo and Ja enjoyed plenty of success together in the early 2000's. In March of 2002, the two, along with Cadillac Tah, stayed atop the charts for six weeks with "Aint It Funny (Murder Remix)." The song appeared on J. Lo's J to tha L-O! The Remixes which also featured Diddy, G. Dep, Nas and the aforementioned "I'm Real (Remix)." Later in '02, Lopez scored another hit with the Jadakiss and Styles P-assisted "Jenny From the Block," which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Despite the pop-up in Vegas, Ja Rule has been out of the spotlight in recent years and that is by no coincidence. In a Nov. 2015 interview with GQ, the Queens MC admitted to being over fame. "“I’m getting weirder as I get older,” he said. ”I just want to be a recluse, I want to disappear...I mean, I am doing a reality show,” he said. “I used to love being famous, it was the dopest, funnest thing. Not anymore.”
