Meek Mill's efforts for criminal justice reform and other contributions to communities everywhere won't be forgotten, at least not in the city of Houston, Texas. On Saturday night (Feb. 23), the Philly native received a proclamation indicating that Feb. 24 will be recognized as Meek Mill Day in Houston. On his newly established holiday, Meek uploaded photos of the proclamation to Instagram.

"Life is a roller coaster! #themotivationtour Houston gave me a meek mill day! 💪🏾🏆," Meek said in his caption.

The honorable gesture is a token of appreciation from the city that rewards the rapper's mission to improve the country's judicial system. Since his release from jail last year, Meek's high-profile legal battle has inspired the Pennsylvania Senate to make strides to reform their probation system with their newly passed Senate Bill 14. The bill helps those who are suffering from the same situation Meek was in by capping the length of probation at five years for felonies and three for misdemeanors.

Houston also recognizes Meek's willingness to stand up for social injustice wherever it occurs. Recently, the MMG rapper, who's still riding the waves of his successful Championships album, joined the likes of other rappers like Killer Mike and J. Cole who condemned the South Florida police officers who ripped a Black man's baby from his arms during a hostile interaction.

"Regular day for a black man in America! They ripped this man baby out his arms smfh!" Meek wrote regarding the police officer's actions.
