After a long battle with cancer, beloved ESPN sports anchor Stuart Scott passed away this morning at the age of 49, reports ESPN. There is no doubt, Scott was hip-hop's most revered sports talking head as he was personally responsible for injecting the culture's vernacular into the occupation during a time when sports TV needed a shot of something different. Known for his slick one-liners like "Cool as the other side of the pillow" and "Boo-Yah," amongst others, Scott was also known for pushing the envelope. For many African-American sports journalists, Scott was the sole reason they became interested in the occupation as he has been a staple of cool and class throughout his tenure on TV.

As expected, his death shot a ripple through the rap community with many MCs and producers taking to Twitter to express their condolences.
