Today, May 17, is Memphis Kingpin Yo Gotti turns 37.

Hailing from Tennessee, Yo Gotti released his debut album, Youngsta's on a Come Up, in 1996 under the name Lil' Yo. Four years later, he reinvented himself as Yo Gotti and dropped From Da Dope Game 2 Da Rap Game in October of 2000.

More than 20 years into his rap career, Gotti continues serving up the hits, nabbing a top 10 LP on the Billboard 200 with his 2013 I Am and scoring a smash hit with 2015's "Down in the DM" off his 2015 album, The Art of the Hustle. His video for "Down in the DM" is easily one of the funniest rap music videos in the last decade.

Carrying his grind into 2017 and beyond, Gotti's seen his career reach new heights over the last year. Last spring, the rapper teamed with Mike WiLL Made-It to unload "Rake It Up," a Nicki Minaj-assisted banger that quickly moved up the Billboard charts on its way to platinum status. The track ended up becoming his first-ever top 10 placement on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The rest of Gotti Made-It, which is Gotti's joint mixtape with Mike WiLL, slaps too.

Happy Birthday to one of Memphis' finest, Yo Gotti!
