Today, April 12, is the 26th birthday of Malcolm Davis, better known to the rap world as Atlanta rapper MadeinTYO.

Thanks to a family in the military, the young upstart grew up all over the world—from Hawaii to Tokyo to Atlanta—but was always surrounded by music. As the younger brother of 24hrs and an avid fan of stars like Ludacris and Pharrell, TYO started to dabble in music from the time he was a teen. The rapper dropped his debut project You Are Forgiven in 2015, which contained his hit single "Uber Everywhere." Before long, the viral Internet track had amassed 30 million plays on SoundCloud and got remixed by the likes of Travis Scott, Dave East and more. In 2016, MadeinTYO earned his first certified platinum plaque thanks to "Uber Everywhere," rereleased You Are Forgiven with new music in a two-disc format and second project, the Thank You, Mr. Tokyo EP and a joint collab EP with his bro, 24hrs in Tokyo. Proving he's no one-hit wonder, TYO's singles "Skateboard P" and "I Want" featuring 2 Chainz are currently climbing the charts as well.

TYO spoke to XXL in 2016 about how he creates his music. “It’s everything to feel good. In 10 seconds if you’re not moving around, it’s not a Tyo record.”

In 2017, TYO was on tour with Big Sean and continued to work on his debut album all while learning the ropes of fatherhood.

This year, TYO has dropped plenty of new music. He's featured on Bhad Bhabie's "Hi Bich" remix, alongside Asian Doll and Rich The Kid. TYO then went in a slightly different direction, opting to sing on "Love You Down," then collabed with his old friend Nessly on "Lifevest."

Happy Birthday, TYO!
