Future and Cher Sing a Duet in New Gap Ad
Future has earned himself a slew of major endorsement deals since his rise to superstardom, and now he's joining a pop icon for his newest branding move. The Atlanta rapper stars alongside Cher for their new ad as a part of Gap's 'Meet Me in the Gap' fall campaign, and we're getting a first look at the commercial.
The teaser video for the ad (below) shows the two sitting on some steps in an all-white setting, with Cher singing a cover of Sly and the Family Stone's "Everyday People" record from 1969. The platinum-selling MC backs up the veteran pop star with some of his signature vocals, as well as his notable ad-libs, which he laces over an edgy hip-hop beat in the background.
While speaking with People Magazine, Future talks about doing the new ad for Gap and how the brand was a big part of his childhood.
“It’s part of my DNA, growing up wearing Gap and now to see my son wearing it and in a campaign ties the whole family together,” Future explains. “They have something for every age, every person in a family.”
The rapper also remarks on how meaningful the brand was to him, especially since his 3-year-old son, also named Future, modeled for the company previously.
“With both of us being in campaigns for Gap I think it would be cool to pass down that piece of memory to him,” he shares. “Coming into this I wanted to have as much fun as he did.”
In addition, Future Hendrix discusses what it's been like working with Cher on the ad and how he's taken advantage of being in the presence of a music legend.
“It was cool to work with someone who is in the industry but has such a different background and life from me,” Future says. “Our love for music really connected us. She’s a true performer and a legend.”
