It was over 90 degrees for much of the day yesterday as Fool's Gold's Day Off festival brought plenty of surprises to its Brooklyn tour date on Labor Day yesterday. And while Meek Mill was scheduled to close things out at the end of the evening, plenty of the artists who graced the stage brought the energy (while sponsor Grand Marnier provided the fuel) that an over-heated crowd needed to feed off. D.R.A.M., whose inescapable hit "Cha Cha" even had Beyoncé dancing to it on Instagram, is always an upbeat and positive presence; his set was a brief 15 minutes but his point was made nonetheless. As the lineup shuffled around, SaveMoney MC Towkio hit the stage for what he said was his first New York performance, bringing his Chi-town flavor on "Reflection" and his Chance The Rapper-featuring "Heaven Only Knows," both of which appeared on his excellent recent mixtape .Wav Theory.

Following that, festival co-founder A-Trak hit the stage more than an hour early and brought along a slew of guests to fill out his set. iLoveMakonnen's distinctive voice rang out as he surprised the crowd by performing songs like "I Don't Sell Molly No More," while A-Trak teased one of Brooklyn's finest before welcoming Fabolous to the stage to perform "Lituation" and "Breathe." A$AP Ferg also made a surprise cameo and worked through "Shabba Ranks" before telling the crowd his album was coming before the end of the year and spitting a verse a capella in tribute to A$AP Yams. A-Trak then introduced 1st of Atlanta production duo FKi, a frequent collaborator of Post Malone, who set the scene before Post came out to run through his songs "White Iverson," "Too Young," "That's It" and then "White Iverson" again, bringing out ATL's Bankroll Fresh to rock out towards the end of his set. Brooklyn's own Flatbush Zombies, decked out with palm trees all over their set, then got the crowd moving as the sun finally fully set and teased a new album of their own that should be on the way. The trio ran through plenty of their catalog, including "Laker Paper" and "Thug Waffle" off D.R.U.G.S. and Better Off Dead's "Palm Trees" (hence the stage setup).

The Zombies left the stage a little after 9 but it wasn't until 9:35, with a hard end to the festival set for 10 p.m., that Meek hit the stage. Opening up with the first verse of "I'm A Boss," Meek quickly stopped his DJ and called out a member of the crowd for holding up a Drake sign. "Bro, you're holding a Drake sign at a Meek Mill show?" he asked incredulously before rapping one of his older tracks, "House Party," and stopping the DJ again. "It ain't no fuck Drake shit, but don't come here like it's the internet," he continued and launched into "Lord Knows" off his latest album Dreams Worth More Than Money. But Meek still wasn't done with the fan.  “Put that Drake sign up again, nigga,” Meek said in between songs again. “Fuck you talkin’ ’bout you fuckin’ clown. Don’t ever come in here and fuckin’ play on no Meek Milly tryna pick on me like I’m a fuckin’ dweeb or somethin’.”

Meek largely left the fan alone after that, but it led to a bit of an awkward atmosphere. The Philly MC praised Future before doing their collaborative track "Jump Out The Face" (and asking the crowd to raise their middle fingers at the Drake fan) and running quickly through "Levels," "Believe It," "Off The Corner" and "Amen." He followed with a period of time where he essentially played MC as his DJ played backing tracks to other songs by Travi$ Scott, Rae Sremmurd and O.T. Genasis. But then he got back to business with the still chills-inducing "Dreams And Nightmares (Intro)," delivered initially at the edge of the stage before he got down and climbed into the crowd, seemingly trying to crowd surf at one point, though it was a little hard to tell. From the crowd, Meek asked the DJ to play some Bobby Shmurda and then all of a sudden it was 10 p.m. and the sound cut off, ending Fool's Gold just then. Check out our full photo gallery above.
