DMX's history struggling with substance abuse has been well documented. Less than a month after inking a new deal with Def Jam, the rap veteran has decided to into himself into a rehab facility.

The announcement was made to fans via X's Instagram on Saturday night (Oct. 12). Along with a photo of the rapper, the picture is captioned, "In his ongoing commitment to putting family and sobriety first, DMX has checked himself into a rehab facility. He apologizes for his cancelled shows and thanks his fans for their continued support."

Several people in the hip-hop community showed love to Earl in the comments.

"PRAYERS TO YOU MY BROTHER," Casanova commented.

Scarface posted, "Much love X."

Russell Simmons offered, "Love you and always will Keep your head up."

Loud Records founder Steve Rifkind shared X's message along with the praise, "Thank you X for everything you have done for my family."

After being released from prison after serving time for tax evasion charges in January, Earl has been keeping a somewhat low-key profile and has continued to perform. He reunited in the studio with Swizz Beatz in March and performed at Coachella in April. He also reportedly landed a role in an upcoming film. The Yonkers, N.Y. native's deal with Def Jam was announced in September.

"It's going to be a good year for him, God willing," Swizz said of the signing at the time. "I just want it to happen so he can go to where he been supposed to have went," added Swizz who admitted X had been avoiding the spotlight because "he wasn't in his right form."

X's last album, Undisputed, was released in 2012.
