After surprising festival attendees at 2019 Coachella during Murda Beatz's set on Saturday (April 20), DMX is headed to Hollywood to star in a new slasher flick.

According to IMDB, Dark Man X has signed on to star in Chronicle of a Serial Killer alongside Tara Reid and Brenden Sexton. With director Steve Stanulis behind the lens, the film documents the twisted life of Henry Brolin (Sexton). Brolin is a serial killer who targets women he believes may turn out to be like his mother. DMX will be portraying Detective White, who's one of the lead detectives that try to bring Brolin down.

DMX's film roles have been scarce in recent years since he was serving time in prison. Although he's had cameos in Netflix's The After Party and Bhad Bhabie's recent "Bestie" video featuring Kodak Black, this will be DMX's first major film role since he appeared in Top Five with Chris Rock in 2014.

The veteran MC's upcoming film role is cool and all, but what we really want is what he's cooking up in the studio with producer Swizz Beatz. Last month (March 5), the Yonkers, N.Y. native was spotted in the studio with his go-to beat maker. Beatz also seemed to confirm that they're making new music together.

"No days off!!!!!!!!" Swizz captioned the photo of himself and X in the studio.

As of this report, there's no confirmed release date for DMX's new film. Until it arrives, we'll accept his eye-popping performances while he's on tour.
