A 2011 XXL Freshman makes his return. Yesterday (Aug. 2), Diggy Simmons, whose last project dropped all the way back in 2012, unloads "It Is What it Is," an uplifting new song and visual that marks the rapper's grand re-entrance into hip-hop.

The "It Is What it Is" visual itself finds Diggy hitting up a church as a group singers do some crooning and dancing right behind him.

Featuring some very lowkey violin and vocals from gospel singers, the track itself is one that lets Diggy breathe and speak his truth. "I was in my head around the clock, I had to tell the devil stop," Diggy raps on his inspirational new track.

Speaking with XXL about "It Is What it Is," the son of Rev. Run explained that his striving to be perfect inhibited his musical output. "It's very hard. And I'm practicing it," Diggy said of trying not to overthink his process.

He continues, "It's not like it's perfected. Just saying, 'You know, it is what it is.' And I think there's a lot of people that kinda go through that. Just the overthinking and not just letting life be what it is and letting your best effort be what it is. So it's just kinda like that process of being like, 'I just gotta give it everything and just go.'"
