Chris Rock Says Asking Andre 3000 for New Music Is Pointless
Last year, Chris Rock hinted at a new André 3000 album, but the thing is, it was a joke. The problem is, in hip-hop, there are certain things you don't joke about, and a new album from the hopelessly elusive OutKast wordsmith definitely falls onto that list. Rock wasn't really sweating the quip, though. After all, in his opinion, asking 3 Stacks for new music is pointless
In a recent interview with Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez, Rock talked a little bit about 3 Stacks—someone he texts from time to time—and concluded that asking for new music from the ATLien is an exercise in futility. "I did my, you know, 'We need an album' — I did a speech," Rock said after being asked about how he's discussed new music with the Atlanta legend.
A few moments later Rock touched on how 3 Stacks responds to requests for new music, Rock. "He's like a hot chick. It's like telling Amber Rose about her curves. 'Oh, you don't say.' 'Ooh, you think I'm attractive, huh?' He's bored out of his mind."
Other interesting tidbits from the interview include Rock's take on Kendrick Lamar's new DAMN. album (15:00), and his claim that Childish Gambino's Atlanta is the best show on TV (24:00). You can peep the 3 Stacks portion at around the 23:00 mark of the video below.
