On April 7, Chingy's mother, Vernita “Jean” Crawford, died of natural causes at the age of 59, St. Louis Today reports. In the days afterward, the Jackpot rapper's fans poured in plenty of support, and now he's offered up a thank you letter.

In the heartfelt letter, Chingy thanks his fans while also paying tribute to his late mother, praising her for raising he and his siblings. He also requested privacy for he and his family.

"My family and I would like to thank everyone for all of the condolences, phone calls and kind words," the rapper wrote in the letter. "The loss of our mother was unforeseen and heartbreaking. She was the foundation to who my siblings and I are and she is loved by many. We're asking for privacy in this time of bereavement and hope you continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers, as we learn to cope with this devastating absence from our family structure. Thank you again for all your love and support. Peace and Love, Chingy. "

Crawford's funeral will be a private one. Her wake will take place tomorrow (April 14). We'd like to send our deepest condolences to Chingy and his family during this trying time.
