One of the most talked-about hip-hop newcomers coming out of New York City right now is A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. The Bronx native, who reps the Highbridge section of the New York borough, boasts a plethora of hits that utilizes his melodic flow, thus propelling the 21-year-old spitta to land a spot on the 2017 XXL Freshman Class cover.

After a brief stay in Florida, A Boogie returned to New York in 2015, with a passion to jump into music. After starting Highbridge The Label with his friends Bubba and Quincy, A Boogie released his debut project, Artistin 2016. The mixtape was widely accepted by fans and critics alike, and as of today, every song has over 2 million plays on SoundCloud. The mixtape was led by "My Shit," peaking at No. 86 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Jungle," which racked up 54 million plays on SoundCloud.

"I never knew Artist was going to get this big," A Boogie explains during his sit-down interview to discuss his XXL Freshman class spot. "When I was making it, I put my all into it. But you never know what's going to happen with something you make. I knew it was going to make it somewhere but not this big, this bag. It just shot up, it just not go down."

Industry heavyweights instantly took notice with DJ Khaled, Meek Mill and 50 Cent being some of Boogie's earliest cosigns. By August of 2016, A Boogie opened for Drake on the Summer Sixteen tour at three out of four sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Soon after, A Boogie landed a joint venture partnership with Atlantic Records and released his EP, TBA, boasting another charting single "Timeless." The single peaked at No. 86 on the Billboard Hot 100. When 2017 came around, things didn't slow down. He dropped his Kodak-assisted single "Drowning," which peaked at No. 41 on the Hot 100.
