Back in November, 21 Savage earned his first platinum single when he and Metro Boomin's Savage Mode track "X" sold over a million copies. A little over three months later, he's doubled up on the accomplishment with that same single now being certified twice platinum.

"X" is by far 21's biggest song to date. The track, which features a smooth Metro Boomin instrumental and occasional murmurs from Future, sees the Atlanta artist rap about stunting on his ex with all of his success. It's basically an embodiment of the mellow savagery that made his hardcore project with Young Metro easy listening gangster rap.

Back in January, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin's "No Heart" also went platinum, and based on the official video's staggering amount of views on YouTube, we wouldn't be surprised to see "No Heart" go double platinum in the near future as well. With all of this success, it becomes easier to see why Jay Z even referenced 21 in his recent collaboration with DJ Khaled.

2017 is still young, but several other artists have already reached new ranks in platinum at the top of the new year. D.R.A.M.'s Lil Yachty-assisted single "Broccoli" was certified four times platinum last month, and Desiigner's oddly catchy "Timmy Turner" went platinum back in January. You can see the Instagram post announcing "X's" newly minted double platinum status below.
