2 Chainz and Dominique Wilkins Face Off in Three-Point Contest
Atlanta native 2 Chainz faced off with Atlanta Hawks legend Dominique Wilkins in a three-point contest today (Dec. 20). The event was broadcast live on the Hawks' official Facebook page.
The showdown, which you can view in full above, went down somewhat predictably. Tityboi and Wilkins went head-to-head twice, as Wilkins won both times with scores of 7-6 and 9-5. However, the highlight is when 2 Chainz sinks one and the announcer exclaims, "He buried it ... Just like at the Louis store!"
Before his rapping days, 2 Chainz was a basketball star on the high school level in College Park, Ga., before going on to play at Alabama State University. The 6-foot-5 MC still has skills on the hardwood, and he's going head-to-head against the Human Highlight Reel in a three-point contest today.
In a recent interview with Mid-Major Madness, Tityboi's old college coach, Clayton Harris, broke down his game. "I first saw him play when I was up recruiting one of his teammates named Robert Jackson," he said. "His skill was unbelievable."
Harris even compared 2 Chainz's talent to that of an NBA Hall-of-Famer. "I know you’re going to think I’m crazy, but he reminded me of George 'The Iceman' Gervin with his body type and the stuff he could do on the floor," Clayton Harris says. "He was real slick."
Below, you can check out a video of 2 Chainz playing high school basketball in 1995. Known as Tauheed Epps at the time, watch as he catches the rock on a kick-out and drills a three. In the next clip, he gets the ball on a fast break and finishes with an emphatic dunk just after the regulation buzzer sounds. Additionally, you can keep scrolling down to watch a video of 2 Chainz playing H-O-R-S-E with Wilkins back in March 2015.
