Zoey Dollaz Wants to Showcase More “Rock Star Sh*t” With ‘Black Elvis’ EP

When Zoey Dollaz caught a big break in 2015 with his song “Blow a Check,” his life changed. The South Florida native went from the streets of Miami to Diddy’s studio to record a Bad Boy remix for the track. The record appeared on Diddy’s MMM album in late 2015, plus there was an accompanying music video that featured himself, Diddy and French Montana burning lots of money. Since “Blow a Check,” the rapper's career has been on a steady climb upwards.

Last year, Zoey signed to Future's Freebandz label and Epic Records in addition to releasing his Port-Au-Prince and October mixtapes. In 2017, Zoey started off the year hot by releasing his first single "Bad Tings," a club banger featuring DB Bantino, and linked up with Future Hendrix and Koly P for “Ya Ya Ya.” Now Zoey is gearing up to drop two projects, Nobody Is Safe and Black Elvis.

Nobody Is Safe is a mixtape that features Zoey rapping over the instrumentals of today's hottest songs and is more of a project to hold fans over until the Black Elvis EP arrives.

"I’m going to put out the freestyle mixtape with some of the hottest beats out. I might just add a verse and keep the hooks," Zoey explains to XXL. "This will promote Black Elvis, which is my EP coming out this year. My next single is going to be with Chris Brown. I know it’s going to do something because just previewing it, I have people going crazy on the internet for it. I just plan on working and putting out different types of music. I just believe in real music that’s going to last always. I want to build that core fan base and the people that fuck with my type of music that’s going to stick with me in the long run."

Breezy and Zoey are collaborating on the song “Post and Delete,” which makes reference to both Brown’s relationship issues and his run-in with police earlier in the year stemming from assault accusations. Zoey is also working with Migos, Dave East, Don Q, A Boogie, PartyNextDoor and Timbaland for Black Elvis, which is inspired by Zoey's government name.

"My real name is Elvis and Elvis had a lot of women that loved him. It’s the same thing with me," Zoey shares. "That’s why I called it Black Elvis and some of the songs is talking about women-influenced stuff. Plus I’m about to be on some rock star shit this year. I’ve been humble and been keeping it cool but I’m about to go crazy this year. I’m going on tour with Future and Migos in April and I plan on going on tour overseas because they are just now getting on 'Blow a Check.'"

He adds that's he's starting a foundation called Dollaz for Kid, which will build schools for children in Haiti.

2017 looks like it's going to be a good year for the budding upstart. "I’m trying to be a household name by the end of the year," Zoey states. "I’m trying to have No. 1 records and awards. If its deserving, I need it."
