Watch the Story of How Lil Snupe Made His First Mixtape ’16 & Runnin’ Before His Death

Dec. 12 marked the four-year anniversary of Lil Snupe's first project, 16 & Runnin Tha Mixtape. Now an inside look at his recording process is showcased in a new documentary, which focuses on the making of the mixtape.

Directed by Rahim Handy and produced by Snupe's mother, Denesha Ross, the 22-minute piece called Inside 16 & Runnin Resurrected shows the ins and outs of the late Louisiana rapper's come-up. The clip shows pivotal moments of Snupe's recording process, bringing to life the interludes that appear on his new posthumous album, 16 & Runnin Resurrected, which dropped this month.

The full documentary is slated to drop sometime in 2017. The film features behind-the-scenes videos of Snupe prior to his demise, as well as exclusive interviews with Snupe's closest family, friends and associates, including C-Nyle, Snupe's engineer. The documentary also captures how Snupe initially linked up with Meek Mill.

The album, 16 & Runnin Resurrected, is not only a celebration of where it all started for Snupe but a celebration of the rapper's life beyond the grave.

XXL spoke with Snupe's mother back in April, and she talked about the upcoming documentary, saying she hopes it inspires the youth. "A lot of mistakes are made and I just want to motivate someone because I’m always getting emails about how Snupe inspired people’s lives, he saved people’s lives just through his music," she said. "So to see the visual of it, I hope it can inspire someone else and many more who might not even know him."
