Vic Mensa Addresses Oppression in “We Could Be Free” Lyric Video

Vic Mensa is no stranger to addressing the tough issues that people in the world face, and his new lyric video for "We Could Be Free" brings a lot of those stories to light. The Chicago rapper shows footage of different areas of the world dealing with oppression by their government, hate groups, corrupt organizations and more.

The song, which is a collab with Ty Dolla $ign, features Mensa expressing some of the hardships that people have to go through, but also offers up some solutions as to what can be done. Different shots show people in both Palestine and Charlottesville, Va; comparing and contrasting the riots and protests that have taken place in both cities earlier this year, even though they are on separate sides of the Earth.

"We Could Be Free" comes straight off Vic Mensa's recent The Autobiography album, which has been highly anticipated by fans for the past year. He also previously dropped his The Manuscript EP as a surprise for his loyal supporters, which featured just four tracks from the "OMG" MC.

Mensa has been a big activist in his community, as well as the music world, having spoken out strongly on police brutality and social injustice within the U.S.
