The Weeknd Gets Lost in a Colony of Bats in New “Call Out My Name” Video
After sharing a Spotify-exclusive video for "Call Out My Name" earlier this month, The Weeknd returns with another video for the hit song today (April 12).
Labeled the "main video," the new "Call Out My Name" visual finds Abel wandering the empty streets of a blue-tinted city as he croons the song's heartfelt lyrics. As the singer reaches the song's chorus, a colony of bats appear. The video then turns to black and white before The Weeknd is transported to burning plains, where he is surrounded by wildlife.
Following the release of "Call Out My Name," fans were quick to analyze the lyrics, and assumed the song is about The Weeknd's ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez. "We found each other/I helped you out of a broken place," he sings. "You gave me comfort/But falling for you was my mistake."
The song can be found on The Weeknd's latest project, My Dear Melancholy,. Released on March 29, the six-track offering features only one guest appearance from French artist Gesaffelstein, who contributes to the tracks "I Was Never There" and "Hurt You." Production on the project is handled by Frank Dukes, Mike Will Made-It, Skrillex and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk.
Up next for the Canadian artist, he will be headlining the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival alongside Eminem and Beyoncé. The Weeknd is scheduled to perform on Friday, April 13 and April 20.
