After a Twitter exchange with Danny Brown that revealed he was fucking with ZelooperZ, the 20-year-old Detroit MC was immediately inducted into the Bruiser Brigade. Aiming to be as original as his role model, 'Looperz stole the show at this year's SXSW with his cameo performances alongside Brown. Meet hip-hop's most promising act of 2014.

Name: ZelooperZ (Walter Williams)

Age: 20

Hometown: Detroit, MI

I grew up listening to: I listened to what my dad used to play. I really liked E-40. Lil Wayne. I listend to 50 Cent and Missy Elliott and shit. They were my top favorite artists. I listened to Eminem, he’s definitely tight as fuck. I would put him on my list, but it’s kind of cliché. 'Yeah, of course, I listened to Eminem.' I listened to Fab too. Fab he got them punchlines. He got them stingers.

Most people don't know: I am an artist first. That’s what I do. I love art. I’ve been painting since I was a kid. Music is kind of my second love. I started drawing as a kid like [in] elementary school. When I got into high school, I started painting. I mostly do everything like art. I got into music by just growing up in a household with all different types of music playing, it kind of stuck with you. We used to freestyle in the kitchen [and during] dinnertime. It was like a musical household and I always liked rhyming.

My style's been compared to: A lot of people compare me to a young ODB. I heard E-40 a little bit. Young ODB mostly. I don’t think they comparing me to [Young Thug] as far as vocals and shit like how I sound. I think they are saying moreso the situation. I don’t really think they met the comparisons as far as music-wise. I feel like we make different type of music. I fuck with Young Thug. I thought [the comparison] was cool as shit.

My standout records and/or moments to date have been: This last year, I was blessed to be on “Kush Coma” with Danny Brown and A$AP Rocky. “Hit A Lick” is a standout record for me. It got 30,000 views on YouTube. I think that’s kind of cool and shit. Everybody love that shit. That’s just the shit I put out recently. I ain’t get to standout yet, yet. “Plateau,” that shit is slappin’ right now. I just dropped that a couple days ago. It got on FADER, Complex. That shit tight. That’s a lot of people talking about it and shit. The Needle Drop just mentioned it yesterday.

My moments to date have been SXSW, that shit was crazy as fuck cause I didn’t even know I was going to be performing until a couple days before. And then, I was just [like] I know I could perform and everyone else was doing that. But, it was like surprising to see people from Texas cause that was my first time in Texas too. And, it was just surprising to see everybody gravitating to it and kind of like it. That shit was crazy as fuck to me.

My goal in Hip-Hop is: Of course, to keep projecting this new sound that I’m trying to mix up. I’m trying to give some new flavor to hip-hop mixed with the old, but some new shit to listen to. Get away from the norm. Just trying to give them a different world.

My album HELP is done. It’s mixed and mastered. They just gonna [be] zoning like they are in a whole another world. It’s like when the music comes on, it’s like time slows down or times speeds up. It’s like a whole different world. I was listening to it this morning. I just got these new Beats and I was listening to it cause my speaker blew. And my shit is a different world. I feel like people are going to enjoy it.

I'm gonna be the next: I’m gonna be the next nothing. I’m gonna be ZelooperZ and everybody’s like “I fuck with ZelooperZ.” You feel me?
