Ever since podcast personality Taxstone was arrested in January of this year for weapons charges related to the 2016 Irving Plaza shooting that left Troy Ave injured and the rapper's bodyguard Ronald "Banga" McPhatter dead, people have been wondering why official murder charges haven't been brought against Tax. But on Thursday (July 13), the Tax Season host was officially indicted for murder.

DNA Info reports Taxstone, real name Darryl Campbell, has been charged with second degree murder for the fatal shooting of Banga that fateful night on May 25, 2016. Tax pleaded not guilty during a hearing on Thursday.

The Assistant U.S. Attorney Hagan Scotten has repeatedly pointed the finger at Tax and named him as the person who shot and killed Banga, but charges didn't come quickly because Tax was being tried in federal court for the initial weapons charges he was booked on in January. This new murder charge is an indictment by the state, hence the delay.

Troy Ave was initially arrested and charged with attempted murder after the shooting when footage spread online of the Brooklyn rapper firing a gun in the aftermath of the initial melee at the concert venue. He was later released on bail amid rumors that it was Taxstone who killed Banga.
