Suspected Gunman in XXXTentacion’s Murder Case Arrested
One of the suspected gunmen in the murder of XXXTentacion has been arrested.
According to the Broward Sherriff's Office today (July 11), 22-year-old Michael Boatwright was arrested on July 5 for unrelated drug charges including possession and intent to sell cocaine and possession of Pyrrolidinopentiophenone (known on the streets as flakka). While in jail, authorities served Boatwright on July 10 with an arrest warrant for first-degree murder.
Boatwright is now the second person to be arrested in connection to the murder of XXXTentacion, after 22-year-old Dedrick Williams was apprehended on June 21. Williams was charged with first-degree murder and is suspected of being the getaway driver for the two gunmen who shot dead XXXTentacion, born Jahseh Onfroy, in broad daylight as he left RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield, Fla. on June 20.
The first degree charge describes the murder as premeditated, meaning that it was committed with some planning and "lying in wait," or holding off until a certain moment.
Authorities are still searching for a third man they consider a person of interest in Ofroy's murder, 22-year-old Robert Allen. Despite issuing several pleas for information about Allen's whereabouts, he has yet to be located.
As police continue the pursuit of justice for X, his friends, family and fans continue to mourn his death. Last week, he was laid to rest in a grand mausoleum following a public open-casket viewing that was attended by thousands of fans, as well as his friends in hip-hop such as Ugly God, PnB Rock and Ski Mask The Slump God.
