YG Breaks $60,000 Contract to Perform “FDT”
If you've been keeping score, you already know YG isn't exactly a fan of President Trump. What you might not have known is that he's willing to lose $60,000 in order to bash the new president anywhere he pleases.
This past Friday, YG was headlining a concert at San Diego State University's annual GreenFest—which is a festival designed to "encourage, celebrate, and advocate for sustainability, SDSU Pride, and diversity"—when he broke his $60,000 contract with the school by performing his incendiary anti-Trump song "FDT." A source close to the rapper's camp confirmed to XXL YG did indeed lose out on the check to perform his anthem.
The record, which was released last spring, finds YG and Nipsey Hussle critiquing Trump for actions they deemed prejudicial. The song became sort of an anthem against Trump, who was, at the time, merely a GOP presidential candidate. Now, thing's have obviously changed.
Performing "FDT" is reportedly going to cause YG to miss out on that fairly hefty $60,000 check he was set to get, but at least he got another chance to get his point across. Call him what you want, but the guy's clearly uncompromising.
In other YG-related news, the rapper recently appeared on "GucciOnMy," a mega-banger produced by Mike WiLL Made-It. The track, which is all set to appear on the Georgia producer's forthcoming project Ransom 2, features YG, Migos, and 21 Savage as well. If the song does well, YG will probably make that $60k make pretty quickly.
