Starlito Wanted by Police in Connection to Shooting
Update (Aug. 3, 11:16 a.m. EST):
Starlito has surrendered to authorities after a warrant was issued for his arrest, reports News Channel 5.
Original Story:
Roughly one month removed from dropping his Hot Chicken album, Starlito finds himself wanted by police in connection to a shooting in his native Nashville, Tenn. On Wednesday night (Aug. 2), police issued a warrant for Starlito's arrest on charges of aggravated asault and unlawful gun possession. The Tennessean reported the news yesterday.
According to the regional publication, local police believe Starlito, real name Jermaine Eric Shute, was involved in the shooting of James Fletcher at the area's Batter'd and Fried restaurant on Tuesday night. The 36-year-old was hit in his left thigh in the shooting.
Area investigators say Fletcher "had words with two other men" upon walking into the restaurant, and could be seen punching one of the men in the surveillance footage. The rest of the scuffle played out outside the line of the camera's sight. One witness reported that a man stuffed a pistol into his waistband before leaving the restaurant.
After being shot, Fletcher was transported to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Police say he was uncooperative when detectives tried to interview him about the shooting.
This incident marks the second bit of controversy Starlito's been involved with this week. A few days ago, he was involved in a scuffle with Young Buck. He's also currently out on bail for a harassment charge from earlier this year. Here's to hoping he can stay out of trouble.
