On Rick Ross' impressive Rather You Than Me LP, one of the standout records was "Triple Platinum." The record, which was produced by The Olympicks and Analogic, found Rozay reflecting on his accomplishments. The featured artists on the record was Scrilla, a rapper who was recently signed to MMG. His verse was stellar, stepping up to the challenge when rapping side-by-side with the Bawse. To be featured on Rather You Than Me was an honor for Scrilla.

"I didn’t even know I was going to be on the album maybe until the end of the album," said the Florida native. "I knew I did a verse and we ended up playing the verse for JAY-Z and he told me [it was a] dope verse. That was a beautiful situation. When Hov gave me that it was like, my verse is going to stay on this album."

Florida is a hotbed for hip-hop talent right now with artists making a name for themselves like Smokepurpp, Lil Pump, Wifisfuneral, among others. Scrilla brings a different energy to the scene. His last EP, God's Will, which was released earlier this year, is a good representative of his sound and honest lyrics.

"What makes me different from all the artists that are coming out right now is my story," Scrilla explains. "Just my story is different. We all have our different paths, but I feel like what puts me into a different perspective is how I set my music up and how I rap. So when you hear From Me to You, I’m really painting a picture. I’m giving you different lyrics and painting the picture just a little more vividly."

He says he has over 700 songs and lost 1000 records when his hard drive crashed. However, Scrilla is currently focused on his From Me to You project, which should be dropping soon. Before that drops, get top know Scrilla in this week's edition of The Break.

Name: Scrilla

Age: "I turned 21, 10 times in the last 10 years."

Hometown: Liberia, Fla.

I grew up listening to: “Basically growing up, I’m from the projects. It wasn’t anything special and we all go through trials and tribulations. I just think my trial and tribulations are like nobody else. I’ve been through so many things, and that what makes me stronger than everybody else right now. My life took many different turns but I never let them weaken me. I lost a brother and a son in the same month. I watched my dad flat line. I went to prison from college. All this didn’t happen [consecutively] but it happened in my life."

"I grew up listening to 2Pac, Rick Ross, BG, Trick Daddy, Biggie, Hov, just dope era of music. I started making music in like, the 9th grade. I was playing football and they used to play my music in the locker room while we’re working out. I remember my coach telling me, 'You ain’t going to be shit' but yeah I showed him."

"I started taking rap serious about five years ago. It was a time in my life when I was invested in everybody else and I felt like they weren’t taking me serious. So, I just said let me try this myself and invest in myself. I put out my mixtape, American Me, and it did great. It fueled my fire."

"I met Rick Ross through my buddy Safe, who’s also my manager. Ross wanted to do some videos in the neighborhood and he introduced me to Ross. We talked and we figured that we had some similar life case scenarios and we clicked. It’s been wonderful since then. I played some music for him and he loved it and he brought me on. This was like, 2013 when I first met Ross."

My style’s been compared to: “I hear it all. I describe my sound as just me personally. I know when you first start rapping it takes a while to get used to your own voice. Now I sound dope to myself. I hear people sometimes say, 'You remind me of a young Scarface, JAY-Z should be on this, you and Ross.' I’ve done heard it all. Those are great people to be mentioned in the same sentence. So, it’s an honor for that."

Most people don’t know: “I’m the most spontaneous person on the planet."

My standout moment to date: “Of course 'Triple Platinum,' I made a Ross album. Not everybody in life is going to make a Ross album. That set a new bar for myself."

My goal in hip-hop is: “I want to be the best rapper ever, to be the most influential ever, to be the greatest leader, to be a powerful figure."

I’m going to be the next: “The next president, I can alter anything, I can do what I want to do regardless of what the people say."
