Post Malone’s ‘Beerbongs & Bentleys’ Wins Favorite Album Rap/Hip-Hop at 2018 American Music Awards
Post Malone has been having what will probably be looked back upon as a career-defining year. On Tuesday night (Oct. 9), 2018 got even more significant as his Beerbongs & Bentleys album took home the award for Favorite Album Rap/Hip-Hop at the 2018 American Music Awards.
Post was up against some formidable competition in the category, facing off with Drake's Scorpion album and Lil Uzi Vert's Luv Is Rage 2 LP. The "Rockstar" rapper won out over the two powerhouses. Beerbong & Bentleys was a hit upon its release, breaking streaming records and earning the top spot on the Billboard 200. Now Post can add an American Music Award win to the LP's accolades.
He wasn't done winning either. He also took home the award for Favorite Male Artist Pop/Rock, beating out Drake and Ed Sheeran. Post's big night kept getting bigger as he also performed at the event. He and Ty Dolla $ign gave the crowd their hit single "Psycho." In addition, he also belted out a solo performance of "Better Now."
Other rappers winning big included an MC having a breakout year in her own right, Cardi B. The Bronx bomber won the award for Favorite Artist Rap/Hip-Hop, Favorite Song Rap/R&B ("Finesse") and Favorite Song Rap/Hip-Hop for "Bodak Yellow." She also had a set at the event, performing her hit song "I Like It."
