Philadelphia Eagles Run Out to Meek Mill Song at 2018 Super Bowl

Meek Mill might be locked up, but his presence has still been felt on football's biggest stage. On Sunday (Feb. 4), the Philadelphia Eagles ran out to the sounds of the Philly rapper's legendary "Dreams and Nightmares (Intro)" as they were introduced at the 2018 Super Bowl.

If you've followed Meek's career since the beginning of its commercial viability, you already know the track serves as the beginning of debut major label LP. The sharp contrast between the sentimental piano at the start of the song and the raging flows and aspirational bars that follow it, a set-up that was mirrored by Tee Grizzley's "First Day Out" four years later, makes it one of Meek's most emblematic songs.

"If you're going to go with a Philly song that's the one you're going with," Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham told NFL.com of the team's decision to run out to Meek Mill's classic intro.

Graham's fellow Eagles D-E, Derek Barnett, says running out to the song was a way to show love to the MMG rapper, who's been behind bars since being sentenced to two years in prison for probation violation on Nov. 6, 2017.

"Meek, you know, he's locked up right now, so we have to hold the city down for him." Barnett offered. "It just gets us going. It gives us good energy. Just a little extra juice."

Graham, Barnett and the Eagles will now look to take down Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
