Following reports that A$AP Rocky has been charged with assault in Sweden, President Donald Trump went on Twitter Thursday (July 25) to bash Sweden's government and demand the release of the Harlem rapper.

"Very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for being unable to act," the President tweeted. "Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States. I watched the tapes of A$AP Rocky, and he was being followed & harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly!"

The President then went on to demand that Rocky be released from jail. "Give A$AP Rocky his FREEDOM. We do so much for Sweden but it doesn't seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem!" he wrote, adding the hashtag #FreeRocky on both tweets.

President Trump's tweets arrive after Rocky was charged with assault stemming from a June 30 incident in which he and his crew got into a brawl with one man. Rocky will have to stay in jail until his trial starts, which could begin next Tuesday (July 30).

"We think it was self-defense, but the prosecutor has chosen to go with the injured party's version," Rocky's Swedish lawyer Slobodan Jovicic told CNN. However, Swedish public prosecutor Daniel Suneson contends that the brawl was still a crime.

Meanwhile, Rocky’s jail conditions are reportedly satisfactory. Anette Skeppar-Forström, who is the deputy governor at the prison Rocky is being held in, told Billboard on Wednesday (July 24) that cells in the prison Rocky is staying in are equipped with a private TV, a desk and a bed. She also said that inmates have access to books and radios in the facility, and they are allowed to talk with other inmates for up to five hours a day.
