Live Nation Postpones YG, Vince Staples and Mac Miller Shows in Wake of New York Shooting

Live Nation has cancelled or postponed six shows following the shooting that occurred at the Irving Plaza on May 25. The decision was made in conjunction with the New York Police Department. YG, Vince Staples, Mac Miller and Joey Badass are among the artists who have been affected by Live Nation's judgment.

"In light of last week's tragic event, we are acting with an overabundance of caution and coordinating a going forward strategy with the New York Police Department that may also include a curfew," a spokesperson for the Irving Plaza and Gramercy Theatre told Rolling Stone. "Because these discussions with New York Police Department are ongoing, we will be postponing a few of our upcoming shows."

Earlier today (June 1), the NYPD denied involvement in the cancellation of the Joey Badass show.

"There was no NYPD involvement concerning the cancellation of the show at Irving Plaza slated for Thursday evening," the NYPD said in a statement to XXL. "Please be referred to the venue and Live Nation for any further inquiries."

The six shows impacted by Live Nation's decision were split between the Irving Plaza and Gramercy Theatre. The Irving Plaza was scheduled to host Joey Badass on Thursday (June 2), Mac Miller on Friday (June 3) and Vince Staples on Saturday (June 4). YG was set to play at the Gramercy Theatre on Monday (June 6).

Four of the six shows were set to be headlined by hip-hop artists. There has been no public comment stating if this was a determining factor for Live Nation. The other acts affected were Canadian rock duo Black Pistol Fire and Guns N Roses cover band Appetite for Destruction.
