In 2009, Jay Z released "Run This Town" as a single off his multiplatinum album The Blueprint 3. The song would peak at No. 2 on the Billboard charts on its way to selling over 3 million digital copies.

A Manhattan record label is looking to grab a piece of that action and is suing Jay Z, Roc-A-Fella Records, Atlantic Record Corp and several other companies for copyright infringement. According to the New York Daily News, TufAmerica Inc. claims that Jay Z illegally sampled a 1960s Eddie Bo funk song called "Hook & Sling."

According to The Daily News, the lawsuit is seeking the proceeds of "Run This Town," plus a court order to halt further distribution of "Run This Town." Last year, the same label sued Kanye West in a similar lawsuit involving "Hook & Sling" and Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

XXL contacted a representative from Jay Z's camp for comment but as of press time, we have not heard back.
