Lil Yachty Talks Biggie Controversy, Freestyles Over “Flava in Ya Ear”
Lil Yachty and Ebro continue their faux antagonism as Lil Boat appears on the newest episode of the Hot 97 DJ's Beats 1 Radio show. They talk about why Ebro is seen as such a hater, where Lil Yachty got his name from and the blowback from Yachty saying Biggie was "overrated."
He also names Coldplay, Kid Cudi, Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, Tyler, The Creator and Lil B among his influences, and also says he hates being labelled as mumble rap. To Yachty, he just sings and raps, period.
Yachty wants to have a sit down with Lord Jamar. "He was saying a nigga like me is destroying hip-hop. I want to know what makes you think that? Because the last time I checked, out of all the new school rappers, I'm the one pushing positivity, pushing no drugs, pushing no alcohol, doing Toys for Tots free shows, going to group homes and talking to the young men," argues Yachty.
"Until about three weeks ago, I had never listened to a Biggie song," admits Yachty before talking about one of his favorite B.I.G. lines from "Gimme the Loot." He doesn't have plans to bump much 2Pac, though he does remember crying to "Changes" in the car once.
Listen to the entire video below, and watch as he spits to Craig Mack's classic "Flava in Ya Ear." Yachty also premiered a new song called "Judgement Free." Listen to that below as well.
