Kanye West to Meet With President Trump and Jared Kushner at White House
After being a one-man celebrity promo team for President Trump for the last few months, Kanye West is getting his chance at another sit-down meeting with No. 45 later this week.
The meeting was officially announced via the White House and will happen on Thursday (Oct. 11). According to a press release from White House secretary Sarah Sanders: "Kanye West is coming to the White House to have lunch with the President Trump and he will also meet with Jared Kushner. Topics of discussion will include manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago."
As stated, Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and senior advisor, will be present during the meeting.
West previously met with Trump in 2016, shortly after he'd won the election. That meeting drew criticisms from many people who opposed the president and saw it as a photo opportunity. Yeezy thought differently. "I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues," he tweeted afterward. "These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago. I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change."
Kanye previously stated he would like to bring Colin Kaeperniick along for this meeting. It is unclear if the former NFL quarterback turned activist would be down to field a meeting with Trump who has called him out for kneeling to protest police brutality in the past.
