Six years after drunkenly crashing the MTV VMAs stage and disrupting Taylor Swift's speech, Kanye West will be honored by MTV with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year's edition of the awards show. The award is treated as a lifetime achievement award and is given to musicians and video directors who have made groundbreaking and influential music videos over the course of their careers. Past winners include Beyonce, David Bowie, Justin Timberlake, Hype Williams, Beastie boys, LL Cool J and more. The VMAs air this Sunday, Aug. 30 on MTV.
