Oakland's own Kamaiyah is still new in the game, but she's got more up her sleeve than most MCs at her level. The young upstart dropped her debut tape A Good Night In The Ghetto right before SXSW in March to widespread acclaim, has received cosigns from YG and Drake and is currently on G-Eazy and Logic's Endless Summer Tour as support with YG and Yo Gotti. While Yaya was in the Bay Area for her hometown's Summer Jam (July 10), she chopped it up with San Francisco's 106 KMEL to discuss what's next for her career.

"Everything is strategically planned with me. I'm not doing nothing that ain't planned," the 24-year-old said while rocking a signature spray painted jumpsuit. "I always know what my next move gon' be."

KMEL's Shay Diddy asked for a little bit more of a scoop when it comes to Kamaiyah's next move and brought up Travi$ Scott's name.

"Yeah, he reached out. He liked the swag, he liked the style. We worked with some of the same people...actually over Fourth of July weekend, my manager came upstairs like, 'Yo, I think Trav and them want to come over. '"

The "I'm On" MC went on to explain that after each artist's management linked up, the two rappers got in the studio that same night and came up with a record. "Trav fuck with it, I fuck with Trav. I love his energy, I love his vibe."

As far as her own new music, the Interscope signee isn't rushing a debut album — "I'm still building my fanbase" — but does want to drop two more mixtapes.

"I got a special tape coming y'all really going to rock with....and then I got another tape coming that's just me myself."

In the meantime, bump Kamaiyah's debut project or her new single with Drake and YG "Why You Always Hatin'?" and get to know her on The Break. Check out Kamaiyah's interview in full above.
