The saga of Juelz Santana's most recent legal battle continues. Today (May 2), the Harlem-bred rapper was officially charged with attempting to bring a gun on an airplane.

According to The Associated Press, federal prosecutors hit the 36-year-old Dipset rapper with a two-count indictment, which was handed up on Monday by a federal grand jury. One of the counts is for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon while the second count is for carrying a firearm on an airplane.

Juelz was originally arrested after fleeing from Newark Liberty International Airport because a .38 caliber handgun and Oxycodone were found in his luggage on March 9. He turned himself in to authorities on March 12. On April 6, he made bail after his mother secured a $500,000 bail bond by putting up her Englewood, N.J. home. As a condition of his bail, Juelz was required to wear an ankle brace 24/7.

Speaking with XXL a couple weeks back, Juelz's friend and longtime group mate Jim Jones said that despite his recent legal difficulties, the rapper was in a good place mentally.

"Juelz is doing great," Jones said. "He's in good spirits, he's back home with his kids, with his family. He ready to do some music, he said he was writing a lot of music. So, you know, he got his good foot, he got a focused mind. Shit, he ready.

Juelz could be facing up to 20 years in prison for the charges. Here's to hoping for the best.
