Joyner Lucas Pays Tribute to Nipsey Hussle, XXXTentacion and More on New Song “Devil’s Work”

Joyner Lucas has released yet another new song and accompanying visual that's sure to be talked about online.

On Thursday (May 2), the Worcester, Ma. rapper dropped off "Devil's Work," a new song and video that pays tribute to our fallen soldiers while also asking the man above to take some questionable characters who are still among us.

At one point of the song, Joyner raps, "Wonder why the fuck you take Nipsey Hussle from us/Damn you took a true king, a true brother from us/This isn't fuckin' marathon but they runnin' from us!"

He also mentions Nipsey's alleged killer, spitting, "Take Eric Holder, give us Eric Wright back." This also stands as a tribute to Eazy-E, whose real name was Eric Wright.

At another point of the song, Joyner asks why God had to "take" XXXTentacion, who was shot and killed on June 18, 2018. "Give us Biggie, give us Pun, give us Triple X/Take that nigga Trump with you, that's a bigger threat/There's too much power for a coward with no intellect/That's a bigot with a collar there's a disconnect," Joyner raps.

Elsewhere on the track, Joyner calls out R. Kelly. "I need you to give back Martin Luther, take Martin Shkreli/Give us back Malcolm, take R. Kelly," Joyner raps on the song, which he seemingly indicates will be on his forthcoming ADHD album. "R.I.P. Lil Snupe give that boy his life back!" he continues, mentioning Meek Mill's former protege, rapper Lil Snupe, who was shot and killed in 2013.

The jab at R. Kelly comes after Joyner offered words of encouragement to the embattled singer following the airing of the Lifetime docuseries, Surviving R. Kelly, which chronicled decades of sexual abuse allegations leveled against the singer.

"I know this has to be one of the hardest patches in your life right now @rkelly. I'm literally watching the entire world condemn you and turn they back on you," Joyner initially in a January Instagram post. "I'm not saying you don't deserve it. All I'm saying is please don't hurt yourself or take yourself out. I'd still be sad."

Following the negative response to his tweet, Joyner admitted he hadn't seen the documentary and that he should have watched it before commenting. Either way, it looks as though he might've changed his tune.
