J. Cole called into Hot 97 to chop it up with Funkmaster Flex. Cole's Interscope imprint, Dreamville, already he Bas, Cozz and Omen under his wing. However, the Fayetteville spitta says he wants to find the next Aaliyah in hip-hop.

"I’m a producer," said Cole. "I had dreams of starting a label and producing for artists and it just so turns out that I got artists that don’t really need [a major label]. I’m still looking forward to scooping that singer, that Aaliyah type or that Missy type that I can put that Timbaland touch on and really give my sound to. But in the meantime, I just got some real monsters that don’t even really need me. So, I’m just pushing them as much as possible.”

Flex also questioned J. Cole on his absence from social media, which the 2014 Forest Hills Drive rapper chalked up to his desire to focus on the music. "I believe in mystery man," Cole explained. "I believe in staying away until you got sometihing to say. I don't believe in talking to be talking or talking to be heard." everyone was telling him he needs to be on Twitter more and he never felt that. "i thin i'ma just stick to this music and build up this fan base and if they love it they love. they gon rock with me whether i tweet or not."

Funk Flex and Cole also spent a few minutes talking about Funk's passion for NASCAR and the St. John's University album's relationship with driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. Listen to the entire interview above and below.
